Happy New Year Full Movie Review Of Shahrukh Khan

Strange moments aside, there were glimpses of Farah’s brilliant humour and not a dull (illogical and strange, yes) moment in the movie. In Happy New Year, like her previous flicks, the best is saved for the last as the entire cast and crew take part in a “Worst Dance Competition” when the credits roll. It all ends with a svelte Gauri and a cherubic AbRam playing with his besotted dad SRK. Is sitting through the entire movie worth it just to get to the end? In this case, YES! The final word: Happy New Year is worth a watch this festive season. You will, like me, laugh throughout the movie – whether at, or with them! Dear readers, you decide.

Low on logic, and high on opulence, her movies flourish on song and dance, and rides purely on Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulders, or might we add abs! Her ‘Happy New Year’, however, is her weakest dance link, or should we say the “worst” yet. It’s never about the dance but about comedy of the lowest rank and over-the-top patriotism. Armed with no real story and dialogues and scenes borrowed from SRK’s earlier films, ‘Happy New Year’s exposes Farah’s deep desire to impress SRK.

The robbery and its build-up should have been water-tight, but their clowning around takes up a lot of screen time making it a tedious watch. You may find yourself laughing at some of their antics, but HNY proves that nothing spectacular comes out of mixing gang robbery with grinding hips. It’s got a few silly jokes, but they are too few to transform HNY into an engaging watch.

footsteps of Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt is latest to get inked. The Highway babe has got the word “Pataka” tattooed on the nape of her neck and she flaunted it with style at the 59th India Filmfare nomination bash.
Really Alia, Pataka of all the words? Well, the actress has refused to reveal if the design is a temporary or permanent one. On being probed again and again, she said, “It’s supposed to be a surprise. I won’t even say if it’s temporary or permanent.”
Apparently, when the shutterbugs went clickety click, the actress immediately covered it with her locks. It is heard that Alia’s new tattoo is for a song in her upcoming flick Highway, which is also titled Pataka.
Meanwhile, many B-town actors are spotted flaunting the most interesting designs in tinsel town.

Don't think myself as number one actress: Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone does not think that she is the number one heroine and says box- office collections do not matter much to her.

Last year, Deepika delivered four back-to-back hit films - Abbas Mustan's 'Race 2', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' with Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Chennai Express' and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'.
Deepika Padukone
When asked if she thinks she is the heroine number one, Deepika says, "I don't think of myself that way, it feels good when others say it. I think that is the best kind of validation that you can get when people tell you that.
I hope it is about the work and not necessarily the numbers (money) that the films are making. "Box office collection doesn't value much to me, I feel the films should have repeat value.
For me, the sign of a successful film is that it should have repeat value even after 10 or 20 years. Like, how we refer to 'Sholay', 'Kabhie Kabhie', 'Mughal-E-Azam' today...they are iconic films. I hope the films that I have been part of end up becoming like that," she said. Deepika has been nominated in the best actress category at almost all the award shows this year. "There have been really nice performances.
I am little disappointed that all my films got released last year... I wish they were spaced out and gave audience a breathing time. But the year was special to me, not just box office wise but also for the appreciation that I got for the films," she said. When asked who she thinks as her competitor this year, she said, "Nimrat Kaur was good in 'The Lunch box', Sonakshi Sinha in 'Lootera' and Sonam Kapoor in 'Ranjhaana'."
Though she tasted success last year, she is not worried about the future. "I think we should not worry. I work from heart and give my best. I work very hard for all my films and the fate of the films are beyond your control," she said. Her onscreen chemistry with Shah Rukh has been appreciated by everyone.
"We have been lucky in terms of scripts that we got. It took six years for us to come together for 'Chennai Express' after 'Om Shanti Om'. It is the script and the character that enhances our onscreen chemistry. I hope 'Happy New Year' is as special as 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Chennai Express'," she said.

I am single, says Deepika Padukone

Actress Deepika Padukone, who has been romantically linked with her 'Ram-Leela' co-star Ranveer Singh, says that she is very much single.

Deepika Padukone

Apparently, Deepika, who turned 28 on January 5 spent her birthday with Ranveer and the alleged couple was spotted together in New York. In an interview recently, she had denied rumours of a relationship with Ranveer but evaded the question on the issue this time saying that all this talk is not true.
When asked if she was single, she said, "Yes ...yes." "You are happy (now)," she told reporters at the Stardust cover launch event here last night.
Earlier, the actress sidestepped queries on Ranveer on filmmaker Karan Johar's chat show 'Koffee with Karan' when she was prodded about her supposed boyfriend and instead asked, "Am I dating him ?"
Sometime back, the pictures of Ranbir Kapoor and his rumoured girlfriend Katrina Kaif were published by the magazine. And now Deepika's photos with Ranveer are going viral but the actress is not worried about the pictures getting published.
"It doesn't matter as it is part of what I do. When the issue releases I will buy the copy to read it," she said.

Three actresses on Bhandarkar's wishlist for his next 'Madamji'

Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan... who will play the actress-turned-politician in Madhur Bhandarkar's next film?

For his next film centred around the life of an actress-turned-politician, Madhur Bhandarkar is looking at casting a leading name from the industry. In fact, he has not one but three heroines on his wish-list for this film titled Madamji.
With the film’s script in its final stage, the director is planning to approach Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan to play the lead role in his film.
A source says, “Madhur will be meeting all three of them and depending on how the talks go, the film’s lead will be finalised.” The director of Fashion and Heroine clearly hasn’t had enough of women-centric films.
The source adds that this film traces the story of a small-time actress who turns to politics under the guidance of her mentor, and that the film’s lead character will be in her late 30s or early 40s.
“Like all his other films, this one will be a hard-hitting film with a dash of humour. The film takes its inspiration a real-life person who is currently a politician in Uttar Pradesh,’’ says the source. Interestingly, Madhur has earlier worked on a movie with politics as its premise.
His film Satta, starring Raveena Tandon, revolved around a woman who hates politics but joins it eventually. however, remained unavailable for comment.

When women played key roles in Bollywood films

Taking a look at the spate of films where actresses might just pip their male counterparts in the opening credits

Lessons from the past
Instances where actresses have taken precedence over their male colleagues in a film’s credits...

>> Nargis’s name appeared before Sunil Dutt and Rajendra Kumar in the opening credits for Mother India (1957).

>> Rajesh Khanna’s name followed that of Meena Kumari in the opening credits for Dushman (1971), while Amitabh Bachchan’s name appeared after Mala Sinha’s in the credits for the film Sanjog (also made in 1971).

>> Farooque Shaikh took a backseat in the credit titles of Umrao Jaan (1981) as the film focussed on Rekha’s character.

>> Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi, both of whom were known for their predeliction for parallel cinema, always got prominence in the film’s credits. Mandi, for instance, was a film where the duo outshone their male counterparts.
When Shah Rukh Khan’s film Chennai Express was up for release, the actor made it loud and clear that the opening credits in all his films would now carry the name of his leading lady before his own.
With women characters no longer being relegated to the background, this gesture assumes more significance today. Even as women-centric films multiply manifold and leading actresses play meatier roles, it’s apt that their names gain prominence in the opening credits. All of which begs the question: will other filmmakers and actors follow SRK’s cue?
HitList throws light on some upcoming films where the actresses play key roles. Whether or not they will be assigned similar importance in the opening credits remains to be seen...
'Gunday'
'Gunday'
Director:
Ali Abbas Zafar
Female quotient: The promos tell us that this action film hinges on the charisma of macho duo Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. However, there’s considerable room for Priyanka Chopra to wow the audiences as well.
'Gulaab Gang'
'Gulaab Gang'
Director:
Soumik Sen
Female quotient: Dedh Ishqiya saw Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi vie for attention against the likes of Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi. But in Gulaab Gang, it’s all about womanpower as Madhuri and Huma team up with Juhi Chawla.
Untitled Mary Kom biopic
Untitled Mary Kom biopic
Director:
Omung Kumar
Female quotient: Priyanka Chopra will be playing celebrated boxer MC Mary Kom in this biopic. With the film tracing Mary’s rise, PeeCee should be in every frame of this film.
'Queen'
'Queen'
Director:
Vikas Bahl
Female quotient: The film is centred around a Punjabi character that will be portrayed by Kangna Ranaut. Rajkummar Rao (of Shahid fame) is starring opposite her. It wouldn’t be a mistake to label this film as women-centric.
'Super Naani'
'Super Naani'
Director:
Indra Kumar
Female quotient: Evergreen actress Rekha is now planning a comeback along with Randhir Kapoor. The cast also has Sharman Joshi in it; but with Rekha leading the way, nothing else matters now, does it?
'Daawat-E-Ishq'
'Daawat-E-Ishq'
Director:
Habib Faisal
Female quotient: This romantic comedy is Aditya Roy Kapur’s sixth feature film and Parineeti Chopra’s fifth cinematic outing. But in the glamour stakes, the latter has fared much better and hence, she might just beat him to it in their film’s opening credits.
'Revolver Rani'
'Revolver Rani'
Director:
Sai Kabir
Female quotient: Kangna Ranaut seems to have made up her mind to take on only character-driven projects. This film will have her in a never-seen-before role and it has newcomer Vir Das cast opposite her.
'Bewakoofian'
'Bewakoofian'
Director:
Nupur Asthana
Female quotient: Ayushmann Khurrana’s first and second films saw him paired opposite fellow-newbies (Yami Gautam and Pooja Salvi respectively) but this one is different. In this romcom, he stars opposite Sonam Kapoor, an actress who is ‘senior’ to him. We’ll have to wait to know more about their roles though.
'NH10'
'NH10'
Director:
Navdeep Singh
Female quotient: This film faced some problems during its casting but now Anushka Sharma has been finalised for the project. Moreover, the actress, upon seeing the film’s potential, has turned producer too. With Neil Bhoopalam (of TV show 24 fame) sharing screen space with her, this film should be touted as Anushka’s baby all the way.
'Finding Fanny Fernandes'
'Finding Fanny Fernandes'
Director:
Homi Adjania
Female quotient: Although the titular character will be played by Anjali Patil, Deepika Padukone is expected to enjoy maximum screen time in this one. The ensemble cast includes veterans like Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia, and younger actors such as Arjun Kapoor. Insiders say that Dippy will steal this show.

Ranveer Singh sidesteps queries on Deepika Padukone

Actor Ranveer Singh who has been linked with his 'Ram Leela' co-star Deepika Padukone for a while, kept parrying questions on his rumoured affair with the actress during an interaction with media here on his film 'Gunday' and asked them to focus on the upcoming release.

Deepika, who turned 28 on January 5 apparently spent her birthday with Ranveer and the couple was spotted together in New York.

Last evening, when Ranveer turned up for the press conference of 'Gunday', the media kept asking questions about Deepika and their reported outing together.

For a while, Ranveer stayed mum and let his 'Gunday' co-star Arjun Kapoor and director Ali Abbas do the speaking. Both answered the constant queries on Ranveer's behalf sportingly.

Ranveer too took some questions on romance and said, "Love is truly in the air I am in love with my team and releasing the film on the day of love. I am proud of my team."

But when the media kept badgering him on his personal life, the exasperated actor said, "Focus on 'Gunday'."

"It is action drama film... YRF is producing it, starring Arjun, Priyanka and myself and is directed by Ali Abbas. It releases on February 14... do come and watch it. Next question please."

However when curious reporters refused to relent, he seemed to lose his cool and asked, "What is this happening, is this the 'Gunday' film press conference or my interrogation."

Recently, Deepika too evaded questions on Ranveer on Karan Johar's chat show 'Koffee with Karan' when she was asked about her supposed boyfriend and instead asked, "Am I dating him?".

Priyanka Chopra says I can romance anybody

Actress Priyanka Chopra says she can romance anybody in her films, so why just talk about megastar Shah Rukh Khan.

Priyanka has delivered two hit films 'Don' and 'Don 2' with SRK.

When asked if she and Shah Rukh would make better co-hosts as far as romance and comedy on the stage is concerned, Priyanka said, "I can romance anybody, why just him... That is my job."

Priyanka arrived late for the Filmfare awards press conference, which was scheduled to begin from 7.30 pm but it

started after 9 PM as the actress was held up in traffic.

"I used to come late earlier also, it is not something that is dependent on my mood. I was shooting and then got stuck in traffic... Sorry for being late. I broke my new year resolution of not coming late because of work and traffic."

The actress will be hosting 59th edition of Filmfare awards with Ranbir Kapoor and is nervous about it.

"This is for the first time that I will be co-hosting the awards, I am very nervous. It's scary and exciting... But if you don't do tough things in life then there is no fun," Priyanka said.

In the past, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan have hosted the award show.

"Shah Rukh, Saif, Ranbir, Imran, so many people have hosted the show and they have always set the standard. So, it becomes little scary and there is a pressure. Logically, the

pressure applies on Ranbir. But I have been working very hard to make sure it will be lot of fun," she said.

Priyanka said if she had an option of co-hosting the award show with an actress, it would be Vidya Balan. "I think she (Vidya) is spontaneous and she is lot of fun," Priyanka addedAccording to her, actress Deepika Padukone has given the best performance as an actress last year.

The Filmfare awards will be held on January 24 at Yash

Raj Films studio.

Deepika Padukone:Relationship with Ranbir Kapoor became my All world

Bollywood's Reigning Queen Deepika Padukone joined her contemporary Priyanka Chopra on the latest episode of 'Koffee With Karan Season 4' last weekend. The actress who has been on the top of her game and has had a fabulous year with regard to films was stunning in an Alice + Olivia lace top and fitted pants.

The actress created quite a controversy on last season's episode when she appeared on the show with actress Sonam Kapoor. Both girls were a laugh riot when they revealed some unflattering things about Deepika's former flame Ranbir Kapoor.

Host Karan Johar asked Deepika if all is fine and sorted with Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh with regard to the episode, to which Deepika replied, "I don't think there was ever an issue there. I think people made it an even bigger issue. For me personally, I don't think there was ever an issue…Definitely, not between Ranbir and me for sure. And even if there was, it never reached me. I think which is why we can even do a film like 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' and still have that kind of understanding and chemistry."

The actress was later grilled on her supposed current boyfriend Ranveer Singh. "So you're dating Ranveer Singh and not talking about it," said Karan. "Am I?" she replied.

Karan further asked why would she choose to keep her relationship with Ranveer under wraps, especially since she was so open about Ranbir. "So I think that was a stage in my life where I genuinely believed that that I had fallen in love... I think that it was a relationship that I thought would go beyond."

"For whatever reasons…I think we're very different people and we're not compatible. For whatever reasons it didn't work out. And since then I wont say cautious but I think I'm very, very scared to invest emotionally in a relationship, because I don't know how to just casually date, I don't know how to be in this in-between dating but not committing. I don't know that space. I want to be very sure before I'm ready to commit."
On her equation with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika said, "My equation with Ranbir is very, very clear. The best part is that he and I are very clear about where we are in our lives today, as far as our equation is concerned. So there's no reason for anyone is his life or anyone in my life to be worried about or concerned or insecure about our equation."
Deepika also opened up on how she dealt with the heartbreak after her relationship with Ranbir ended. "It was very, very difficult for me because, I think, somewhere that relationship became my world. I was new to the city, so his friends became my friends and that life became my life. And I don't think I made the effort to have my own life. I think that relationship really taught me a lot, when it ended. It's made me a better person today and he says it himself."
Karan put Deepika in a spot when he asked about her 'RK' tattoo, to which she replied, "It's still there Karan…But it should come off at some point," she said.
During the rapid fire round, on being asked who is the better actor – Ranbir or Ranveer, Deepika refused to answer. In the end, the actress lost the coffee hamper to Priyanka Chopra.

Deepika Padukone will dub in her own voice for Rajinikanth starrer singing

Deepika Padukone who turned a year older on Sunday would be dubbing her own lines for her big Rajinikanth blockbuster after all.

There were reports that professional dubbing artiste Mona Ghosh would be dubbing for Deepika in the Hindi version of 'Kochadaiiyaan'. While this is partially true, the entire version of the story portrays a different picture.

I spoke to the film's co-producer Dr Murli Manohar who said, "It's true we got Mona Ghosh to dub for Deepika in Hindi. But that's only because we needed a complete version of the film for various screening purposes before release. This was done only because Deepika is a very busy actress and could not give us immediate time that we needed for the dubbing. But we'll get Deepika to do her dubbing before the film releases."

Apparently, Deepika's voice is much too well-known to be played around with.

Says Dr Murli, "After 'Chennai Express' even her Tamilian fan-following has multiplied. We are very lucky that she played a Tamilian in 'Chennai Express'. It gave her stardom an extra push in Tamil Nadu just when we're ready to release our film."

The makers now plan to promote 'Kochadaiiyaan' not only as Rajinikanth's film but also Deepika's.

"She is a very important part of our marketing plans. We'd be foolish to not cash in on her stardom. 'Kochadaiiyaan' would be another landmark film in Deepika's career," said Dr Murli about the actress who is currently in Banglore with her family for her birthday.

Says a friend of Deepika, "2013 was a whirlwind year for her. She was working round-the-clock. Ahead of her birthday, she had a party for her colleagues in Mumbai. For her birthday she has gone to Bangalore for a quiet family reunion."

Shah Rukh Khan wants Deepika Padukone to lead 'Happy New Year' 2014.

Shah Rukh Khan is keeping his promise and it has to do nothing with Deepika Padukone being the Number One superstar of 2013 after delivering four super-successes worth over Rs. 600 crores. For his upcoming film 'Happy New Year', it is yet again his leading lady who is enjoying the top billing in the whole publicity material and promotional campaign.

"It is going to be Deepika's name coming before Shah Rukh's. This is in line with Shah Rukh's declaration during the days of 'Chennai Express'. At that time he had surprised many in the industry by insisting that Deepika gets a top billing over him," informs a source.

Though it had seemed like an aberration to many, considering the fact that even the film as a whole was being promoted more as a Rohit Shetty entertainer than a quintessential Shah Rukh Khan starrer, it is crystal clear that for Baadshah Khan, the decision was for the keeps.

Confirms the film's director, Farah Khan saying, "Shah Rukh wants it this way and we are happy to comply with the same for 'Happy New Year' as well."

The film has been announced for Diwali 2014 release and rest assured, Deepika is all set to sparkle this year as well and that too, from the top. Pun intended!
