Saif parts way with long-time manager

Zahid Khan has been Saif Ali Khan's business manager for quite some time now but if recent rumours are to be believed, the former has just been shown the door. It is being said that two days ago, Saif Ali Khan had a major argument with his business manager, after which the actor fired him.

This is not the first time they have had a fight. Apparently, Zahid Khan wants to be a producer and has been difficult to deal with.

Interestingly, Zahid started out as Karisma Kapoor's manager after which he worked as Kareena's business manager as well. Post Kareena and Saif's marriage, he began working as the latter's manager too.

A source from the industry says that Zahid has been trying to co-produce a few projects for a while now. "He would often have an argument with Saif, who gave him a fair share of warnings before he finally decided to let Zahid go," says the source, adding that Zahid has rubbed a lot of directors the wrong way.

"It seems that he had also bought the rights of Jai Ho as he wanted to be the film's co-producer. Of course, that didn't materialise," says the source.

Interestingly, Zahid was earlier managing Sonakshi Sinha who has also let him go.

Saif joined the crew and the shooting is underway at Kangdoori in the periphey of the resort, 55 kms from here, officials said. The film will be shot in the Valley for five days but it was not clear whether Katrina is joining the shoot.
While rest of the crew led by director of the movie Kabir Khan arrived in the valley last week, Saif joined them in Gulmarg today, the officials said. Most of the shooting in the film during the next four days is scheduled to take place at the breathtaking locales of the hill resort - a star attraction for tourists especially during winter when it is covered with several feet of snow.
The film began shooting in October 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon and during the shoot in Lebanon, the cast and crew were provided security due to the political instability in the country. Saif, who plays the lead role, will be seen speaking lines in Kurdish, which the actor reportedly learned specially for his role.
The movie is about post 26/11 attacks in Mumbai and global terrorism, where Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif play the role of secret agents. Naidawalla's production house will also shoot another upcoming movie in Kashmir which will see the yesteryear superstar Jackie Shroff's son making his debut in movies.
Once shunned due to eruption of militancy, Kashmir has again come up on the radar of bollywood over the past few years after the situation started improving. Last year, a number of Bollywood producers came to the Valley for shooting movies.
The much-talked about Vishal Bhardwaj's adaption of Shakespeare's play Hamlet was also shot here. The film, tilted 'Haider' held an extensive shooting schedule in valley.

UP state draws flak for rewarding 'Bullett Raja' team

Even in the wake of controversy over Saifai festival, CM of Uttar Pradesh gives Rs 1 crore to the 'Bullett Raja' team

Close on the heels of the Saifai festival controversy that saw the Uttar Pradesh government reportedly spend Rs 300 crore on an entertainment show, comes another one.
This time, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to Bullett Raja’s director Tigmanshu Dhulia and its producer Rahul Mitra for having promoted tourism in the state by shooting extensively in UP.
Given that the state has been reeling under the impact of riots (scores of people have lost their lives and property in Muzzafarnagar), such ostentatious handouts by the government are -- not surprisingly -- attracting a fair share of flak.
Rahul Mitra On their part, the filmmakers are shrugging off the sum as nothing but subsidy. Producer Rahul Mitra says that claiming subsidy for a film that has been shot extensively (in this case, more than 75 percent) in the state is in keeping with regular policy. “We had applied for the money long time ago but the procedure took time and we’ve only got the cheque now. It so happens that the timing is all wrong -- had we received the amount a month ago, no one would have batted an eyelid,” he says.
He also asserts that money earned as subsidy will now be used to make payments to spot boys, technicians and other staff members. “My film didn’t do too well at the boxoffice and I have some debts to clear. In any case, shooting in the state’s interiors has helped create jobs, so accepting a subsidy can’t be considered wrong on our part,” he says.
