Earlier it was being reported that veteran actresses like Sridevi and
Madhuri Dixit were being approached to play the role of a Punjabi mother
in Zoya Akhtar's next directorial movie. However, when apparently they
rejected, the role finally landed on the lap of versatile actress
Shefali Shah, reports The Times of India.
It is being said that Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit Nene reportedly got
uneasy when they were offered the role of the Punjabi mother to screen
siblings, Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh, in Zoya Akhtar's Dil
Dhadakne Do (DDD). However seems like, Shefali Shah, who is younger than
Mads and Sri, has taken up this challenge to play the role.
Shefali has previously played mother to Akshay Kumar, who is in fact
older than her, in her filmmaker husband Vipul Shah's film 'Waqt - The
Race Against Time'.
Meanwhile, an insider reveals that Shefali will not be doing the
mother's role in DDD, and rather she will be seen doing something
different.
On the other hand, though Shefali confirmed the news to a leading lady
about her presence in the film, but refused to divulge any details on
her role. She said, "Yes! I'm doing Zoya's film. But all I can say is,
it's an important role and I'm excited about doing the film."
Dil Dhadakne Do also stars Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma in lead.
