While Ranveer Singh's mother thinks her son's shirtless avatar is
jinxed, Siddharth Malhotra is plain embarrased with his topless
scene....
When Ranveer Singh's mother recently called Ali Abbas Zafar, the
director of 'Gunday', concern for her son was the topmost thing on her
mind. It seems that the actor's mother wanted the director to chop out
Singh's shirtless scenes from the film.
Says a source close to the actor, `Ranveer's mother feels that her son
is the unwitting victim of black magic and that going shirtless brings
him bad luck.
The first time Ranveer went shirtless for 'Gunday', he met with an
accident during a dance sequence, which in turn left him with a gash on
his cheek. Then came another shirtless scene that he shot in a mud pit,
and soon after, he was hurt by a stray piece of glass that cut into his
leg.`
The source adds that these incidents have continued unabated with
Ranveer suffering from a skin allergy and a sore back after shooting
bare-chested for a mud-wrestling scene. `In fact, her mother can't seem
to ignore the fact that it all started with his shirtless look in 'Ram
Leela', after which he fell prey to a bout of dengue,` says the source.
When we contacted, Ranveer Singh laughed and replied, `I am not sure why
this keeps happening to me again and again... (it) must be some spell.`
It was recently reported that actor Siddharth Malhotra worked out
rigorously as part of his prep for a scene that required him to go
shirtless in the film 'Hasee Toh Phasee'.
But now it has emerged that Siddharth has taken a U-turn as he doesn't
want his shirtless scenes to be included in the film. He has even
requested director Vinil Mathew to edit them out from the film. A unit
member says, `Initially, we were supposed to shoot with him and in
anticipation of the shoot, Siddharth followed a special two-week diet,
supplementing it with a carefully chalked out workout session.
Then the shoot was pushed to another date and Siddharth had to maintain
his regime. But watching the scenes now has left him feeling
uncomfortable.`
Siddharth, who went shirtless for his debut film, 'Student Of The Year', confirmed this news.
`Yes, it is true that I have asked Vinil to cut the shirtless scene from
the film. I want the audience to know me for my acting skills and not
my physique. I have always wanted to be known as an actor rather than a
star so it made sense to do away with the shirtless scene,` he said.
